Dentists are medical physicians responsible for the maintenance and health of the mouth and teeth, including dental and oral diseases. They diagnose problems with related parts of the mouth and help provide treatment of advice to maintain proper oral health. They are responsible for writing prescriptions for medications or antibiotics involving these problems and help educate patient's on other measures to improve oral health. Additionally, they perform physical procedures such as repairing cracked teeth or removing decay from teeth.
