Nephrologists are medical physicians who specialize in the treatment of kidneys. They diagnose disorders and conditions of the kidney and order tests to further examine the problem. Through interpreting test results, they determine the best course of treatment such as diathermy machines, cystoscopes or surgery. They may perform injections or prescribe medication as a treatment.
